Spring 2006

at the booksale at the public library
throwing bottles at a fraternity house
the paradox of heaviness is
it's ok to be unhappy sometimes
kite fighting
there are mermaids in the green lagoon
"life is arriving fresh each instant
I was growing tired of dreaming
in spring the pollen appears
I saw a beautiful commercial
just beyond my property line
standing in the river always gives me good ideas
when I was a vulture
it's the wrong time of day to be sleepy
now and again
I have to apologize
on the porch we have a broken chair
"wow, you serve has really been improving!"
"dig up anything cool today?
"greetings fellow scientist"
"yo dig this, if a person..."
"you know, marsupials are unique..."
"do you believe in God?"
"man, I can't wait to get to mars."
"man, I sure love war!"
"may I go to the bathroom?"
"pardon, sir"
"I'll have a waffle"
lying in bed with you
"enuff little youth have up some fat 'matic"
when I was a kid I was endlessly fascinated by space
recently I've been increasingly scared of wild places
spinning slowly in my chair
I know it's cold in the morning
when I'm feeling drowsy
hmm I can only find one of my gloves
at lunchtime I like to sit in the stand of evergreen trees
when you send an email
'the True Way'
what they didn't know when the brought his heart in
I still think of you sometimes when I'm pumping gas
I met a girl in a wheelchair at a bar in London
on the weekends we drive out to the coast

from a stack of birthday candles and the innards of an old down coat

while digging a trench for my new backyard sprinkler system
when I'm bored in a windowless placee
paper street #26
I met a man at a bus station in Del Rio
I should not have eaten the king of fishes
driven by a desire for human contact
"karma police arrest this man"
in turkey I traded my american passport for some magic beans
lying on the lawn watching the sky
before science extrapolated the eventual death of the sun
even though my handluggage was mostly sand
when I lost my watch at the beach
at the wedding of the wood nymph and the giant sequoia
after sinking for six minutes
our prayers were answered in late Octorber
during a laser skirmish with the chinese at the edge of space
midway through the intro bio exam

searching for cell phone reception

I tried to explain to the cop
pretending to skim the card catalog
